FAQs
The questions we get asked before the first order.
If yours is not here, call the depot. Nobody will try to sell you anything for asking.
Accounts & pricing
Is there a minimum order?
No. There is no minimum order value and no minimum spend to keep the account open. Below the free-delivery threshold for your zone there is a delivery charge, which is the only thing order size affects.
Does it cost anything to open an account?
Nothing. There is no joining fee, no annual fee and no contract. If you stop ordering, the account simply sits dormant.
How long does approval take?
Usually under two working hours. We check that you are a trade buyer and that your postcode sits on one of our rounds, then email your login. Applications that come in overnight are dealt with first thing.
Do I need a company number or VAT number?
Neither is required. Sole traders and partnerships open accounts with us regularly. We do need a trading name and a delivery address.
Are the prices on the site the prices I pay?
The prices shown are standard trade pricing, which is what a new account pays. Once you are logged in, volume bands apply automatically — typically 4–11% below the published figure depending on case quantity.
Can I get credit terms?
Thirty-day terms are available on approval once your first three orders have cleared. Until then it is card, bank transfer or cash on delivery.
Ordering & delivery
What is the cut-off for next-day delivery?
6pm for next-working-day delivery. Anything placed after that rolls onto the following day's round. There is no cut-off for placing an order itself — the site takes orders at any hour.
Can I order by phone or WhatsApp?
Yes. Read your list over the phone, send it as a message, or photograph your stock sheet and send that. We build the order and send a confirmation back before it is picked.
Do you deliver outside the Midlands?
Yes — England, Wales and southern Scotland on a next-working-day service. See the delivery page for the three zones, their frequency and free-delivery thresholds.
Can I choose a delivery window?
Rounds are fixed rather than dynamically routed, so most accounts settle into a consistent slot with the same driver. Tell us the window that works and we will put you on the round that fits it.
What happens if a line is out of stock?
You get a call or a message at pick time with the alternative and the price, before the van loads. We do not substitute without asking and we do not leave gaps for you to discover at the door.
Can I collect instead?
Yes, from the trade counter during opening hours (Mon–Sat 6am – 6pm · Sun 8am – 1pm). Calling ahead means it will be picked and waiting on the dock.
Products & quality
Is your meat halal certified?
Our chicken and lamb lines are HMC-certified and labelled as such on the product page. Certificates are available on request for any line and are included as standard for public-sector accounts.
Can you supply lines you don't list on the site?
Usually. The site shows around 150 lines; we can source several thousand more, typically on a week's notice. Send the spec through the contact form and we will quote it.
Do you provide allergen and spec sheets?
Yes, for every line. Schools, care homes and public-sector accounts get full allergen data, batch traceability and delivery temperature records as standard.
How fresh is the chilled stock on arrival?
Chilled lines leave us with at least two thirds of their shelf life remaining. If we cannot meet that on a given day, we call you before the vehicle loads rather than sending it.
Returns & packaging
What if something arrives damaged or short?
Refuse it at the door, or tell us within 24 hours. The credit goes onto your account the same day — there is no claims process and no paperwork to fill in.
Can I return something I ordered by mistake?
Ambient lines, unopened and in resaleable condition, within seven days. We collect on your next delivery and there is no restocking fee. Chilled, frozen and special-order lines cannot be returned.
What is the minimum run for printed packaging?
A hundred units for boxes and bags, five thousand for sauce sachets. Artwork is done in-house and we hold the plates, so repeat runs are faster and cheaper than the first one.
How long does printed packaging take?
Around four weeks from artwork sign-off for a first run, and two for repeats. It is delivered on your normal food round, so there is no separate carriage charge.
Still need an answer?
The depot picks up during opening hours and email gets answered inside a working day.
